In this episode, I talk about how mindfulness doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly for 20 minutes or somehow reaching a perfectly calm state. Instead, I encourage you to look for small, 60-second opportunities throughout your day to reconnect with the present moment. You can practice while washing dishes, waiting for an elevator, sitting in the car, or almost anywhere else. Mindfulness isn’t about getting rid of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or discomfort. It’s about noticing what is happening right now without judging or resisting it.

I walk you through three important parts of mindfulness: being present, practicing non-judgment, and accepting your experience as it is in that moment. I also guide you through a simple 60-second mindfulness exercise using your senses and your breath to anchor yourself in the here and now. The goal is to observe what you see, hear, smell, feel, or think without needing to label it as good or bad or make it different.

Most importantly, mindfulness doesn’t always happen naturally, especially when your brain is used to being busy or anxious. Sometimes we have to intentionally shift ourselves into what I call “mindfulness gear.” Those tiny mindful moments can become a practical way to pause, release some judgment and resistance, and reconnect with your life exactly as it is right now.
